George Rodrigue was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, and began
to paint and sculpt during a four-month, childhood bout of polio. He went on to attend Art Center College of Design in
Los Angeles as a Graphic Arts Major.
Throughout his career, Rodrigues was commissioned to do a number of important political portraits, including Ronald Reagan,
Mikhail Gorbachev, George Bush, Bill Clinton and Al Gore.
He is probably most well known, however, for his series of "Blue Dog" paintings which have been featured in
major advertising campaigns and numerous award-winning books. His original work is much sought-after by collectors, and Rodrigues
is considered by many to be one of the great artists of his generation.
